Can I Put A Travel Iron In My Hand Luggage? – No More Wrinkled Clothes

Can I Put A Travel Iron In My Hand Luggage – No More Wrinkled Clothes

You are preparing to travel to someplace for your vacation. All the things that you need are already inside your checked luggage, no more and no less. But suddenly, you become worried about all the clothes that you will bring. They might get wrinkled and need to be ironed. You ask yourself, “can I put a travel iron in my hand luggage?” Don’t bother too much as it is the question that we will answer in this article. We will also share some other things you need to remember when filling up your hand luggage. Let’s go!

Putting A Travel Iron In Your Hand Luggage

So, to answer this specific question, the short answer is YES. You can put your travel iron in your hand luggage. That should not be a problem when you are planning to have one for your travel. However, you can skip this hassle if you can ask your hotel if they have an iron ready in your room when you go.

>> Maintain a clean and fragrant hair while visiting new places. Remember to pack your shampoo.

Things To Remember When Preparing Your Hand Luggage

1. Bringing Liquids Or Gel-Like Substances That Are Greater Than A Hundred Milliliters

First and foremost, when you want to bring liquids in your flight that are larger than a hundred milliliters, you must put them in your checked bag and not in your hand luggage. This includes stuff like an entire bottle of hair conditioner or even your sunblock. All airports worldwide have a rule that limits the amount of liquid or gel-like substances you can carry in the carry-on bag. The liquid or gel-like substance must not exceed a hundred milliliters or 3.4 ounces. In addition to that, you must put it in a zip-top plastic bag that has a capacity of a thousand liters or a quart. This airport restriction has some exceptions, including needed medication of the passenger and food of babies or children.

2. Forbidden Stuff Is A Big NO

Though obvious, some things are not accepted in the airport. Each country has a list of the things that are not allowed in their respective airports. There is a general rule of thumb for everyone that wants to travel. If you do not want to get the stress of bringing your favorite item just to be thrown away because the security said so, remember the things in this list.

The forbidden things are guns, explosives, sports equipment that can be deadly weapons, sprays for self-defense, and sharp objects like safety razors and even knives. On the other hand, scissors are acceptable when their edges are four inches or lower in length. In most of the world, they let through things like nail clippers and disposable razors, but Swiss-army knives are a big no. Weirdly enough, snow globes are also not allowed except if they fit inside the liter-size plastic bag with the other liquids you will also bring.

3. Put The Liquids Above

This is a pro-tip for you who wants to get as fast as you can when being checked in security in an airport. Putting all the plastic bags with the liquids and gels on top of all your things saves time. It is because it is one thing that the security is looking for when checking your hand luggage. This also goes the same as your laptop (if you also ever bring one). You also have to take out your computer at the security checkpoint except on an expedited trip.

4. Pack Lightly

It is common knowledge that checked bags have a weight limit and must be paid if these are over the limit weight and size given by the airline. However, not all are aware that some airlines have a weight limit to their passengers’ carry-on bags. It is known that both Qantas and Air New Zealand have a seven-kilogram weight limit for hand luggage. On the other hand, Air France has a more generous weight limit for their hand luggage, which is around twelve kilograms. This weight limit also includes the personal items that the passenger brings. To resolve this, try using smaller hand luggage compared to your usual hand luggage. This way, you can arrange and contemplate the things you need to bring and the things you don’t. That is quite a better situation than doing all of the discarding and arranging your items on the security checkpoint itself. On the other hand, other airlines (which contain the largest US carriers) do not have a weight limit but a size limit. Sadly, over the past few years, the size limit is constantly getting smaller.

5. Always Be Prepared When Being Checked In The Security

There are times that even if you follow the airline’s weight and size limit, they will still check your hand luggage. Be always prepared for that instance. This thing is most likely to happen when the plane is at its limit or a smaller one. Remember to keep all of your personal stuff on your own and not inside the hand luggage when this happens. In addition, you must put a luggage tag on your hand luggage. This ensures that your hand luggage can be found even if it goes missing. Your tag must have your name and your contact details for easier tracking of the hand luggage.

6. Always Bring Your In-Flight Essentials

This is especially true when you are put for a very long ride. In this case, you might want to fill your hand luggage with the things you will need when in-flight. These things include earphones or headphones (even though some airlines make you pay for it), alcohol or hand sanitizer, an eye mask, a travel pillow, and reading materials you can read while on the plane.

7. Pay It In Advance

There are low-cost airlines that charge the passenger when they bring their hand luggage. Like the checked luggage, you will also need to prepare some money for your hand luggage. Paying it in advance can save you some time when you are at the airport. Plus, it is guaranteed that you will be spending the smallest fee possible when you pay your hand luggage early on. When you plan to carry hand luggage, just make sure that you pay it in advance for less hassle.

Conclusion

There you go, traveler. There are no problems in bringing a travel iron on a trip aside from getting extra weight in your luggage. And just like that, your question “can I put a travel iron in my hand luggage?” has its answers now. Finish up that preparation and go to your dream destination now!
