Royal Robbins is named after an acclaimed kayaker and climber, who saw and met the need for high quality outdoor and travel clothing over two and half decades ago. Royal and his wife Liz, also an avid and celebrated climber, decided to trade in their t-shirts and cut-off jeans for higher tech fabrics and performance wear, realizing the opportunity awaiting their expertise in the outdoor clothing industry.
