Established in 1978 by the Holloway family, Travel Outfitters was one of the very first travel supply stores in the entire United States.  Our goal was to offer the greater Sacramento area a store that would provide travelers with all the travel essentials one would need to travel light: luggage, travel gear, and clothing.  38 years later the Holloways and their dedicated staff continue to offer valley residents their best efforts in achieving this goal.

The late twentieth century travel boom was an incredibly exciting event to be a part of as Americans ventured past our borders and flew abroad in unprecedented numbers.  Thankfully, our own success has paralleled the increase in air travel and in the growth of internet shopping.  We had to fight hard in the early years in order to survive, but the Holloway family was committed to the idea that travelers needed to have a one-stop travel supply store.  They discovered how to promote this vision when Gussie Holloway began conducting packing demonstrations in order to educate travelers on how to pack light.  The "demos" popularity grew and with no coincidence, so did our business.

Warren and Jon Holloway

Make no mistake there have been several personal and professional up's-and-downs in our business.  Over the years we have dealt with periodic wars and acts of terrorism hurting international travel.  Battling economic downturns, worldwide pandemics, and general public annoyance of travel rules and regulations and ever-rising airfares have been additional burdens on our small business. On a personal level, the Holloway family has overcome the loss of Gussie in 1997 and her husband Warren Holloway in October of 2012.  Throughout the trials we have always remembered how fortunate our family has been to run a successful and respected business.  We thank everyone who has allowed us to participate in their travel adventures by patronizing either our home store or our web site,
